Fighter Class Builds

Fighters can be on the forefront of the battle as tank through the Vanguard build or as a DPS with the Dreadnought build.

Paladin Class Builds

Paladins protect their allies either as a Justicar tank or through healing with the Oathkeeper build. As the Paladin doesn’t have a DPS build, we have a solo build as well for the tank which has some more DPS than the pure tanking build.

Ranger Class Builds

Rangers are a DPS class with the ability to do the majority of damage at melee range as a Warden or at range as a Hunter.

Rogue Class Builds

Rogues hide in and strike from the shadows. They are a pure DPS class and can be played as either Assassin or Whisperknife.

Warlock Class Builds

Warlocks can be DPS through the Hellbringer build or can heal themselves and their party through the Soulweaver build.

Wizard Class Builds

Wizards are a DPS class and can choose either the Arcanist or the Thaumaturge build.

Neverwinter Mod 18 Best Solo Class

In mod 18; Infernal Descent, it became harder to solo than in previous modules. All the classes in Neverwinter can solo just fine. Leveling solo to level 80 shouldn’t be a problem for any class. But some classes are better at it than others, it all comes down to two things. DPS and survivability. Certain classes can really dish out damage and some can take more than a few hits, but it’s the classes that can combine the two who really excel at solo play. Ranger’s and Wizards fall into the first category and solo pretty well. Barbarians combine good survivability with some of maybe the best DPS in the game and are probably the best solo class if you want to solo end-game content fast.

Neverwinter Mod 18 Best DPS Class

Below is a list of Neverwinter’s DPS classes. Saying which class is definitely the best at something is very difficult though, and in the end, it comes down to a lot of factors like gear, builds and player skill.

  • Barbarian: The Barbarian is a strong DPS class in Neverwinter, due to their survivability and DPS output. Especially in AoE damage. They are also relatively easy to play.
  • Ranger: Ranger can do ranged and melee damage. They are among the top DPS classes in the game but can be difficult to play, as you have to move around a lot if you want to stay alive.
  • Wizard: Another great ranged DPS class, also in the top tier. Wizards are often buffers/debuffers but their DPS is up there with Rangers and Barbarians, especially in fights with a lot of mobs.
  • Rogue: Rogues are melee, and their DPS is great, but best on single targets.
  • Warlock: Also capable of being on top in the DPS charts, Warlocks have both strong AoE and single target DPS.

Neverwinter Mod 18 Best Tank Class

There are now three tank classes in Neverwinter.

  • Paladin: Paladins have shields and can heal making them strong tanks.
  • Barbarian: Barbarians can now be tanks with the Sentinel path, they seem to be pretty decent at tanking in mod 18.
  • Fighter:

Neverwinter Nights 2 Best Build For Campaign Xbox One

  • Cleric: Clerics are the classic healers in D&D. In mod 18 they are a good choice and can also be played as DPS.
  • Paladin: As of mod 18 Paladin Oathkeepers might be the best healers.
  • Warlock: Warlocks are probably the worst healers in Neverwinter as of mod 18.

In the end, pick the Neverwinter class that you will enjoy playing. If you have any questions about classes in Neverwinter, leave a comment below!

Neverwinter Nights 2 Class Builds

Personally, I found the Neverwinter Nights 2 campaign (about to finish it and start Mask Of The Betrayer) much more enjoyable by playing a character that can:
1. Fight in melee - because you often encounter groups of enemies up close; like they turn hostile after a conversation and because you don't have to rest after every encounter to replenish your spells.
2. Open locks, detect and disarm traps and identify items - because unlike in Neverwinter Nights, items in chests will brake if you bash the chest open; because it's so much more convenient to not always having to switch characters every time you encounter a chest/door/trap and because you are not forced to restrict your party to those companions who can perform those tasks.
3. Use diplomacy or another talk skill - because the game only let's your main character do all the talking anyway.
I'm not sure how much of this is true for Mask Of The Betrayer, but I think I'll stick to those guidelines if I decide to make a new character for that expansion.
Actually, a cleric with the knowledge domain should probably also have an easy time, since they can do everything well - cast offensive spells (implosion, hammer of the gods), fight (cast extended 'divine power' to turn yourself into a fighting machine), heal, cast defensive spells, open locks ('knock' spell from the knowledge domain), find and disarm traps ('find traps' spell) and has diplomacy and lore as class skills.
On the other hand, I've heard that playing a spellcaster in Mask Of The Betrayer is not really recommend for a first playthrough, since you don't/can't rest as often as in the original campaign.
Bottom line: Play a class whose playstyle you enjoy the most.
For example, in the past I haven't had much fun playing clerics (like the one I posted above), despite them beeing very powerfull and despite me liking the flavor of the class, simply because I don't like having to rely on buffs and having to recast them after every rest. It's worse for arcane casters, so I stick to martial classes most of the time and have way more fun, even if they sometimes can be a bit weaker in comparison.
