Installation Instructions

Once you have all of the preinstallation requirements met, you may now continue to installing the XXKP8 ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware.

  1. Start by downloading the ICS Android 4.0.3 XXPK firmware file onto your computer. Get the package here. Extract the contents to a folder on your computer.
  2. Odin3 v1.83 will be among the extracted files. Launch Odin3 on your computer.
  3. Turn off your phone and reboot it into Download Mode. You can do this by holding down both the Volume Down key and the center button while you press the Power button.
  4. Once the device enters Download Mode, connect your phone to your computer. In Odin, you will see that the ID:COM section lights up, indicating that the drivers have been properly installed. If the ID : COM section does not light up, please do not proceed further. It means that you need to update to the latest versions of KIES and .net framework.
  5. Click on the following tabs (indicated in bold text below) and select the corresponding files from the XXKP8 ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware folder:

  • Once you’re done, click “Start” in Odin3.
  • The phone will restart when the process completes itself.
  • After the phone restarts and you see the homescreen, remove the USB Cable.
  • Turn off the phone again and reboot the phone into Download Mode.
  • Connect the phone to the computer. Make sure Odin3 is still running on the computer.

Rather than waiting for the official roll out of the firmware via Kies, I have obtained the packaged version and updated my set to the new Gingerbread 2.3.5 version. Below is the full instructions for the firmware upgrade.

    These are the files which you will need:

    a) Samsung USB Drivers
    b) I9100XXKI3.rar (specify the Password – samfirmware.com)

    Phase 1- Preparation

    1) Install the Samsung USB drivers

    2) Unzip the main firmware file which will contain 5 files

    GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKI3.tar.md5

    MODEM_I9100XXKI3_REV_02_CL1062028.tar.md5

    3) Run Odin3 v1.85.exe file

    4) Power off your Galaxy S2

    Phase 2 – Upgrading and Updating

    5) Hold Volume down key+ Home button key and press power on

    6) Phone in download mode

    7) Connect your phone with USB cable. and you should get the message “Added! !” under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.

    8) In the Odin application, check only Re partition, Auto reboot & F. Reset time in option

    9) Specify files in Odin:

    PIT = u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit,

    PDA = CODE_I9100XXKI3_CL577579_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5,

    PHONE= MODEM_I9100XXKI3_REV_02_CL1062028.tar.md5,

    10) Hit the start button and process will begin

    11) Wait until your phone gets restart and then unplug the cable

    Now your Samsung Galaxy S2 will be updated to I9100XXKI3 Android 2.3.5.

    Special notes:

    Gt I9100 Firmware Download

    – Take Backup of your contacts messages and other data from your phone

    – This procedure doesn`t format your internal memory. But messages, contacts and apps WILL be erased

    – Shut down Samsung Kies completely prior the start of the upgrade

    – This is not a root process and thus the warranty is not voided
